College Baseball Top 25: 5.8.11

Our top team since winning a series against Vanderbilt a few weeks ago, South Carolina finally dropped a series this season as Mississippi took two of three from the Gamecocks. The benefactor of Mississippi’s triumph is the Virginia Cavaliers, who become our forth team to sit atop our top 25 despite having the weekend off for final exams.

Florida, a former #1 team their own right, lost just their second series of the year as Arkansas took two of three from the Gators. I’ve only dropped them to #5, and they’ll travel to Nashville to face Vanderbilt in one of the most anticipated weekends of the year.

Next weekend’s Top 25 v. Top 25 action:

#5 Florida @ #2 Vanderbilt

#17 Miami (FL) @ #1 Virginia

#15 North Carolina @ #13 Georgia Tech
