Will Proctor – SS– Mira Costa (CA), 6’2″ 175.  Bats: Right.  Throws: Right.  College Commitment:  Georgia

Scouted:  2015 Area Code Games (Blair Field, CA) August 4 and 5, 2015; February 27, 2016, at West Torrance HS (CA).

A highly scouted, toolsy SS from the Southern California baseball hotbed,  Proctor has had an opportunity to put his talent on display at various national showcases, to include the Area Code Games and several Perfect Game Tournaments.  Proctor was selected as the Rawlings-Perfect Game 2nd Team All American California, All Region First Team.     Proctor’s athleticism and baseball instincts stand out the most when first seen.  Proctor entered the year as the 77th ranked high school senior by Perfect Game.

2015 Stats: .333 BA, 1 HR, 15 RBI

HITTING – Proctor has a quick bat that squares the ball and stings the ball to all fields with a fluid stroke. He is a good contact hitter now with hitting mechanics featuring exceptional balance at the plate.  Quick wrists enable Proctor to sting the ball to all fields.  Good contact hitter now with a quick bat and slight uppercut that generates gap power to all fields. Observed good hitting mechanics featuring exceptional balance at the plate.

POWER – Proctor can rake right now with run producing gap power to all fields.  However, his loose, athletic, and projectable body will likely generate more power as his body matures.  His sound hitting mechanics, quick bat, and physical projectability, will allow him to develop into an occasional homerun threat.

SPEED – Proctor isn’t a burner, but he makes up for it with heads up baserunning.  Proctor is an average runner, registering a 7.01 60-yard dash putting him at a 50 on the 20/80 scouting scale.

ARM – Proctor has pitched throughout high school and features a live arm with effortless action that would also play at third base if need be.  Proctor is able to throw from multiple angles with good carry thru bag.

DEFENSE – Proctor may not have blazing speed, but in the infield he makes up for it with excellent first step quickness.  Proctor has outstanding range and plugs the holes in the infield.  Proctor’s will be able to handle SS or 3B, as his athleticism allows him to move well laterally.  He displays smooth, fluid infield actions w/good fundamentals.  Proctor has confident hands and gets rid of the ball quickly.

FUTURE – Projectable body and displays great baseball instincts on the field.  Proctor is an agile and flexible premium defender at SS, who makes contact to all fields with gap power—He will develop more power once he fills out—power and bat is very projectable!  I see Proctor as a solid offensive contributor with premium defensive skills which will enable Proctor to become all-star SS or 3B, and serve as threat in #2 spot or lower down in the order.  I think Marcus Semien is a good comp to Proctor and feel, like Semien, Proctor has tremendous upside.  Proctor is currently committed to Georgia, yet if a team gives him 2nd or 3rd round money, he could sign.  I think Proctor will head to Georgia and blossom into a 2nd round pick and elite college SS.
