Sheldon Neuse.  6’0″ 195.  Bats: R.  Throws: R.  DOB: December 10, 1994.  Last Drafted:  2013 (Texas Rangers – 38th Round).  

SCOUTED:  Oklahoma Sooners @ West Virginia Mountaineers, April 18, 2015.  Morgantown, WV.

A product of Fossil Ridge High School in Keller, Texas, Neuse was a highly regarded prep prospect.  Ranked as the 303rd best prospect in the 2013 draft by Baseball America, Neuse slid to the 38th round thanks, in part, to his strong college commitment to Oklahoma.

SCOUTED:  Mercer Bears @ Butler Bulldogs: May 14, 2016 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Undrafted out of Shiloh HS in Snellville, Georgia, Lewis went to nearby Mercer University where he had a solid but unspectacular freshman season before bursting onto the scene as a sophomore.

2016 MLB Draft Scouting Report: Eric Lauer

Eric Lauer – LHP – Kent State. 6’3″ 205.  Class: Junior.  DOB:  June 3, 1995.  Last Drafted:  2013 (Toronto Blue Jays – 17th Round).

Scouted:  Buffalo @ Kent State, May 6, 2016.  Kent, Ohio.

Lauer was a top 5 round talent coming out of Midview HS in Grafton, Ohio.  A good athlete, Lauer was a second team All-Ohio selection as a receiver in football.  Baseball America had him ranked as the top prep player in Ohio and 125th overall in the 2013 draft.  Due in part to his strong college commitment to Kent State, Lauer slid to the 17th round and was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays.  Lauer followed through with his intention to attend college, and the move has paid off as Lauer could find himself being selected in the first round three years later.

2016 MLB Draft Scouting Report: T.J. Zeuch

T.J. Zeuch – RHP – Pittsburgh. 6’7″ 225.  Class: Junior.  DOB:  August 1, 1995.  Last Drafted:  2013 (Kansas City Royals – 31th Round).

Scouted:  Virginia Cavaliers @ Pittsburgh Panthers, April 30, 2016.  Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

2014 was a big year for the University of Pittsburgh.  It was their first in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and it’s when big T.J. Zeuch arrived on campus.  A Mason, Ohio product, Zeuch considered Kentucky, Louisville, and Cincinnati as options to further his eduction before ultimately choosing Pittsburgh.  “When I first came up to Pitt, I kinda just fell in love with the place,” said Zeuch.  “Everything; the coaches, the conference – it’s kind of a home away from home.  I love it here!”

2016 MLB Draft Scouting Report: Connor Jones

Connor Jones – RHP – Virginia  6’3″ 200.  Class: Junior.  DOB:  October 10, 1994.  Last Drafted:  2013 (San Diego Padres – 21th Round).

Scouted:  Virginia Cavaliers @ Pittsburgh Panthers, April 30, 2016.  Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

A product of Great Bridge HS in Chesapeake Va., Baseball America ranked Jones as the 34th best prospect in the 2013 draft, making him a borderline first round pick.  Jones’ commitment to Virginia was so strong however, that he wrote a letter to all 30 teams informing them of his intention to follow through on his commitment to go to college.  This letter obviously caused Jones to slide in the draft and though the Padres took a flier on him in the 21st round, he chose to put professional ball on the back burner and attend school.

Zack Brown – RHP – Kentucky.  6’2″ 200.  Class: Junior.  DOB:  December 15, 1994.  Last Drafted:  2013 (Chicago Cubs- 38th Round).

Scouted:

Vanderbilt Commodores @ Kentucky Wildcats, May 1, 2015.  Lexington, Kentucky.

Florida Gators @ Kentucky Wildcats, March 25, 2016.  Lexington, Kentucky.

Baseball America ranked Zack Brown as the 385th best prospect in the 2013 draft out of Seymour (Ind.) High School.  Brown slid to the Cubs in the 38th round, due in in part because of his strong college commitment to Kentucky.  As expected, the Cubs were unable to sign Brown as he ended up in Lexington.
