Vanderbilt Comedores @ Kentucky Wildcats – May 3, 2015.  Lexington, Kentucky.

Jordan’s younger brother Justus was selected in the first round in 2014 and is one of the top prospects in the Cleveland system.  Jordan was on his way to first round contention himself in 2013 before needing Tommy John surgery.

Virginia Cavilers @ Pittsburgh Panthers: April 30, 2016 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

Thaiss was twice named First-Team All-State out of Jackson Memorial High School (N.J.) before the Red Sox selected him in the 32nd round in the 2013 draft.  Rather than signing, Thaiss elected show up on campus in Charlottesville.

Nick Kahle – C – Chaminade Prep School (CA), 5’11″ 210.  Bats: Right.  Throws: Right.  College Commitment:  Washington

Scouted:  2015 Area Code Games (Blair Field, CA) August 4 and 5, 2015; March 29, 2016, at 2016 Boras Classic (Junipero Serra Catholic HS, CA).

Kahle (pronounced Kale) is one of the top prep catchers in the country, in what is a deep HS catcher class.   While Kahle is a notch below top CA catching prospect Blake Sabol, he is still an elite catching prospect.  His work ethic, makeup, and leadership intangibles are off the chart.  Oh yeah, he is an excellent defender, has an above average arm behind the plate, and can flat out hit!

Scouted:  Prep Baseball Report’s Super 60, McCook (Ill.).  February 7, 2016.

Not traditionally known as a hotbed for high school pitching prospects, Kansas has produced one prep pitcher who was selected in the first round over the past 10 years.  That particular draftee was Collin Wiles whom the Texas Rangers selected 53rd overall.  This year, the Sunflower State could produce two first round hurlers in fireballer Riley Pint of St. Thomas Aquinas, and Shawnee Mission East’s Joey Wentz.

Yes, this is the part of the report when I’m obliged to tell you that Cavan is the son Craig Biggio.  You may have heard of him.  The elder Biggio collected over 3,000 hits over a 20 year Major League career that culminated with his Hall of Fame induction in 2015.

The top prep outfielder from California and according to MLB.com, and the seventh best 2016 draft prospect, Rutherford’s name will be called amongst the top 5 picks in the first round of this year’s draft.  Rutherford has excelled on the national stage, and shined playing for the 18U USA National Team.  He is a polished ballplayer who will be thrilling MLB fans in a few years with his bat and athleticism.
